Hi Alison, we had an absolutely fantastic time at the villa. Really spacious, much more than the pictures show. Erin really loved your pool and the guys had a great time at the Tortuga pool. The stair gates were super to keep Lyall upstairs, as I mentioned he likes to have a stroll in his sleep so thanks so much for getting them over in time for our holiday. What about the kids club though, James and I really enjoyed the quiet of the pool while the kids were looked after - best 11 euros we spent :-) We found the beach you recommended too, took us about 5 minutes walk even with Erin draggng her heals although the pictures we took on Tortuga beach itself, right outside the house turned out great - our friends can hardly believe we spent a fortnight in paradise!!!! so expect a few calls from them for next year :-) We'll email some over for your website if you like.

We have recently come back from a week at this lovely villa in Tortuga, where we had a fantastic time. Before we went we had heard different views about the island of Sal, but our experience was entirely positive. The plane journey was fine and we were quickly through the airport (we had a good tip from the owner to make sure we joined the visa queue and not the main queue - those who did not had to queue twice), and it really is less than 20 minutes in a taxi until you reach the resort.

The villa was spotless and really luxurious. There was a welcome bottle of sparkling being cooled which was a nice touch. The resort is a 5 star resort, but what we liked best of all was that we had our own pool in the garden that gets the sun for the whole day after about 10am. The music round the communal pool was a bit loud for us, so it was great to have our own bit of quiet paradise! The gardens of the villas are quite close, but most were empty when we were there.

The locals were really nice people. We have been on holiday to Sharm el Sheik where a getting a taxi is unpleasant because you are constantly negotiating a price, but the taxi drivers here are really friendly and dont try and rip you off. In the town the locals do try and get you into their shops, but are fine if you just say no. There were some great restaurants on the sea front, which were great value. The fish (as you would expect) is great, particulary the tuna, but we found even the meat to be surprisingly good. You can get the all inclusive at the resort on a day rate if you want to (50 euros a day per person), but I would not recommend it because it is much cheaper to eat in the town.

The island still has alot of development work going on, but keeps it charm. I really think it is going to be amazing in the future when it is fully developed, but I would recommend going now while the prices are still low!
